So the 19th of January 2013 will mark our 6th month of opening!! I can hardly believe where the 6th months have gone, but we are mighty proud of where we are and more importantly how we got here!
Myself (Josie) and Keith (my husband and not so silent partner) started out with an idea, grew it into a business plan and developed it into a business. About 2 months before we opened I drank a huge amount of coffee (and slept very little) to make sure the blend we were bringing you was the very best we could get…with this achieved we opened our doors on the 19th of July.
5 employees who had never worked together (unless you include assembling flat pack bookcases and cursing under our breaths a lot!). In 6 months we have become a well-oiled team but more importantly a group of friends. Between Harley thinking that Harrods was called “Harolds” (clearly he’s not a shopper ladies), Emily asking a man if his sausage was white or brown (meaning the bread for his toasty but not sounding like that at all) and me thinking dogs bark in accents just like humans talk in them, we have had some laughs along the way!
I have after 6 months managed to stop panicking every day when we are quiet and then panicking even more when we get busy that we may not be able to serve everyone…Although I’d say if you ask the guys they may tell you a different story, but I guess that’s just part of who I am.
The past 6 months have marked some great achievements by us both as a business and some of our staff personally.
We achieved our 5* hygiene rating from the EHO which is something from the very outset we have been determined to gain, but we have done so much more than just that.
We’ve also seen the introduction of our Loyalty Cards, the seal of approval from one of the UK’s coffee bloggers, an outside catering contract, hosting our first baby shower but more importantly than all of that we have established some very loyal customers and made some very good friends along the way.
Rebecca and Haydn who are our weekend staff both achieved great results in their GCSE’s and are well on their way with their A-Level studies now. We are very proud of them both.
Some of you know us as Josie, Harley, Emily, Haydn and Rebecca. Some of you know us as the mad pair that chase after the wrong dog (but that’s another story for another day), and some of you know us individually but together we are proud to say; we are The CoffeeCo.
We pride ourselves on great coffee, great food, great company and a great atmosphere.
Here’s looking forward to the next 6 months, thank you to everybody for their help along the way this far. I can’t wait to see who and what the next 6 will bring for us! We look forward to seeing you and who knows maybe you will become one of our regulars!!
