What a difference a day makes… 365 of them makes a huge difference indeed!
A year has gone by already. We’ve had our ups and downs and some great learning experiences along the way, but we’ve also had a lot of fun and seen a lot of loyalty and kindness along the way.
We opened our doors 12 months ago, with myself, Harley, Emily, Rebecca and Haydn. None of us having worked together and some of the staff not having worked in a coffee shop before. We worked hard and trained a lot and have certainly come a long way!
We opened without over-advertising so that we as staff and a business could grow with our customer base. This gave us confidence and time to bond and develop as a team. A team I am proud to say, that are still standing strong today!
We then started advertising and marketing more to increase business.
Christmas seem to see a big increase for us and we were thrilled to see to so many of our loyal customers coming in with their families.
With the Christmas decorations up in the shop, the cold weather outside and all the Christmas sprit in the air I can safely say I was extremely proud of where we had come and what The CoffeeCo had achieved! It’s safe to say that in the 5 months previous to Christmas the business had become much more than a business to me… and it certainly still is! I have had many sleepless nights worrying about it and a huge amount of satisfaction and happiness when we overcome another hurdle!
School holidays usually mark quieter periods for us as does the sunshine. However with the addition of outside seating along with frappuccino, iced coffees and ice creams have started to see an increase if trade during these periods.
We have more recently sponsored the Higher Bebington Junior Football Team who I am very proud to say were champs of a recent Claire House tournament!! (As some of you may know we also support Claire House with our book sales). They are a great team and their parents have been a great and welcomed support to us in the shape of coffees and buttys as well as a lot of friendly smiles!
Networking for local businesses is something else we have taken to recently which is proving to be successful for both us and the businesses that have been taking part in the events.
Outside sandwich platters for parties and business events are also a string we have added to our bow which again helps us to get through the quieter periods in the shop.
Don’t get me wrong; although we have our quiet times and our very busy times (which can be both manic and challenging) we over all pay all our bills and have managed our 1st year with pride!
So, what’s next?
Well we have recently taken on 2 new staff, Danny and Daniela. They will temporarily take over from myself and Emily, who as I’m sure most of you know are both due babies in September! I believe they will be a great addition to our team and welcome you as much as we have done during the last 12 months. I will obviously still be involved and running the business just from the same side of the counter as you are sat on for a while.
We hope to become a further part of the community in as many ways as possible and also enjoy your continued loyalty and support!
I really can’t thank you all enough for the support you have shown us over the last 12 months, it’s been a lot of hard work but also thrilling, exciting and pride filling to drive the business!
Without your support and use of The CoffeeCo we simply would not be here at all!
I look forward to seeing you soon in the shop.
